There’s no such thing as a permanent stain.
Most people accept some stains as permanent. Wine on cream carpet, oil on upholstery, fake tan on absolutely anything. Once it’s set, it stays. That’s true for most stain removers, which are formulated for specific stain types and fail outside their category. Steam works differently. Heat and pressure lift the stain up out of the fibres rather than trying to dissolve it, so it works across almost every kind of stain. Get to it fast
Stains set as they dry. The longer a spill sits in the fibres, the harder the pigment binds to them, and the more work it takes to lift out. Steam a fresh spill within an hour and it comes out with barely any effort. Wait a month and you’re doing three times the work for the same result. Speed does most of the heavy lifting.
